November ritual for a clean garden: November's secret mixture keeps pests away until next year

Autumn tillage is the most effective way to control pests. While the larvae and pupae are preparing for winter, they can be destroyed with a simple and safe means. The so-called “chatter” based on tar and mustard penetrates into the deep layers of the soil, creating a protective barrier until the next season.

In November, pests slow down their metabolism and become vulnerable. The larvae occupy winter “apartments” in the soil. The absence of greenery allows you to treat the entire surface. The product is not washed off by rain and has time to act before frost.

Recipe and application

  • 100 g birch tar;
  • 50 g dry mustard;
  • 1 tbsp. laundry soap;
  • 10 liters of warm water.

Dissolve the soap in water, add tar and mustard. Water the soil with a watering can with a sprayer (5 liters per 1 m²). Do not dig up the soil for 3 days.

Results

  • Disappearance of wireworms and beetles;
  • A sharp decline in the mole cricket population;
  • Lack of aphids on young shoots in spring;
  • Healthy seedlings without signs of damage.

It is important to remember a few simple rules so that processing brings maximum benefit. Work with already moistened soil – this will allow the product to penetrate deeper. Prepare the solution immediately before use and apply it within two hours while the active ingredients are working at full strength. Do not treat if the soil has already been frozen. To consolidate the result, repeat the procedure in early spring, as soon as the snow melts.

The main advantages of this method are its safety and accessibility. You will not harm beneficial soil bacteria and will get an environmentally friendly harvest without traces of chemicals. The method will not hurt your pocket – processing ten square meters will cost only fifty rubles.
