Blue, green and now orange – parking lots are starting to resemble a rainbow, with each color reserved for a different type of driver. The latter is reserved only for residents of a given town. Zakopane has already introduced such envelopes. Will other tourist destinations decide to take this step?

“Only for Zakopane residents” – orange envelopes appeared in parking lots in the capital of the Tatra Mountains. You can find them near public institutions, such as offices, ZUS, district court, banks and popular bus stops. To park there, the car owner must have an active “Zakopiańczyk” subscription to the Zakopane Resident Card and pay the fee at the parking meter, providing the registration number of the vehicle associated with the card. The maximum parking time in an orange space is one hour, because one of the main purposes of these places is, among others, rotation and quick access to public services for residents, as reported by Interia.

If someone who does not meet the above conditions takes the risk of leaving their car in such a place, they must expect a fine of PLN 300.

This is a response to the notorious lack of places, especially in the so-called high season, Zakopane is struggling. Tourists leave their cars, often breaking the regulations, e.g. in gates, on sidewalks, in front of institutions. Complaints from residents came to officials every day. It is worth mentioning, however, that orange envelopes also exclude parking for residents of neighboring towns.
