Daniel Pancu (48 years old) took over CFR Cluj, and on his debut he managed to beat Unirea Slobozia to the limit, score 1-0, in the 16th stage of the SuperLiga. For the new Transylvanian coach, the first match is coming up in Gruia and it will be against Rapid, a team he played for and also coached.
In an interview for Digi Sport, Daniel Pancu also talked about this aspect.
Before this match, Rapid is the leader of the SuperLiga with 35 points from 16 rounds, while Transylvania is only in 12th place, with 16 points from as many stages.
“This is fate. Can we resist? We can't. It catches us in totally different positions. Rapid is the leader of the championship, absolutely deserved. We are in an unfortunate period, the most unfortunate, I don't know if they have had such a period before. I came here for several reasons, one of them is the team. There is no way to be in this position with such a team unless there are certain problems,” said Pancu.
CFR Cluj – Rapid will be played on November 23, from 20:30, and will be broadcast on Digi Sport 1.
