When asked about the circumstances and reasons for such a description of the Independence Day march, Ole Eivind Henden, NRK's information chief, admitted that his editorial team had made a mistake.
“The term used is not NRK's assessment of what this march was. Both of our nations were under Nazi occupation. It is easy to understand what feelings such an expression evokes. The term 'Nazi marches' was unjustified and NRK apologizes for its use,” Henden told PAP in response.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo asked the Norwegian broadcaster to correct the term used. NRK has not yet responded to this request.
