Donald Trump is considering attacking Venezuela. Pentagon presents scenarios


During Wednesday's meeting at the White House, those present included: Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine. According to reports, they were to present to the US president various military options that could be implemented in the near future.

According to information provided by CBS, representatives of the American intelligence services also participated in the talks and shared their analyzes of the situation in Venezuela. However, a decision on the possible use of force has not yet been made.
The fact that the meeting was held at the White House was confirmed by a representative of the US administration in an interview with the Polish Press Agency, but did not reveal details about the plans discussed.

The meeting took place shortly after the American aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford, supported by other ships from the strike group, arrived in the Caribbean Sea. There are currently eight warships, a nuclear submarine and F-35 fighter jets stationed in the region. Earlier reports by the Wall Street Journal indicated that the US military had prepared a list of Venezuelan military facilities that were allegedly involved in drug smuggling.
Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his position on actions in Venezuela. The US president announced that in addition to operations targeting drug smugglers' boats – at least 21 such vessels have already been destroyed – he is also considering strikes on land. In the past, Trump emphasized that the target of such actions could be gangs operating in Venezuela.
— I don't think we should necessarily demand a declaration of war. I think we'll just kill people. Okay? We will kill them. They will be, you know, dead, the president said, but did not specify which regions or targets would be attacked.

The Trump administration has repeatedly accused Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro of organizing drug smuggling aimed at the United States. The US president also accuses the authorities in Caracas of intentionally sending illegal immigrants to the United States, including mentally ill people and criminals. In recent weeks, Trump has avoided clear declarations regarding possible military action against Venezuela, although he has not ruled out such a possibility.
