The Polish army received a set of K2 tanks. The new contract has already been signed

The deliveries of K2 tanks, including their Polonized K2PL version, are part of the modernization strategy of the Polish armed forces. The 2022 framework agreement, signed by the then Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak, provides for the delivery of as many as one thousand K2 tanks to the Polish Army.
The first 180 machines, manufactured by South Korean Hyundai Rotem, have just arrived in the country. Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized on the X platform that the implementation of the next tranche will begin next year, and as part of it, some of the tanks will be built in Poland.
— Another 20 K2 Black Panther tanks for the 16th Mechanized Division have just arrived in Poland, which means that we already have a complete set of 180 tanks from the first executive agreement – wrote Kosiniak-Kamysz, adding that future deliveries will include machines manufactured in Polish plants.
The new contract covers the delivery of 180 tanks, of which 61 in the K2PL version will be built at the Bumar-Łabędy plant in Gliwice. The K2PL version is to be more Polonized, although details regarding its design are still being developed. In October, a technology transfer agreement was signed between Hyundai Rotem and Bumar-Łabędy, which will enable the assembly of K2PL tanks and accompanying vehicles in Poland. In the future, it is also planned to modernize the machines already delivered to the K2PL standard.
K2 tanks from the first batch are Polonized to a limited extent – Polish communication systems produced by the WB Group are the only domestic element of this version. Their purchase was motivated by the need to quickly fill gaps in equipment that occurred after Poland transferred several hundred T-72 tanks to Ukraine in 2022-2023.

Experts emphasize the advanced technological solutions used in K2 tanks. The machines weighing approximately 60 tons are equipped with a 120 mm cannon and a modern fire control system that provides the crew with excellent situational awareness. Hydropneumatic suspension improves traction and comfort of use, and digital diagnostic systems facilitate service and repairs.
