The Parliament started the procedures for the election of new managements from TVR, Radio and AEP. When the appointments will be made

The Chamber of Deputies and the Senate will meet next Tuesday, on November 18, for the appointments to the Boards of Directors of the Romanian Television Society and the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Society, of the president of the Permanent Electoral Authority, as well as for the vacancy of a non-executive member position in the Council of the Financial Supervision Authority, decided in Wednesday's meeting the permanent Bureaus assembled.
According to those established by the leadership of the Parliament, the lists of candidates for the Boards of Directors of SRR and SRTv will be submitted to the Permanent Offices of the two Chambers, the deadline for nominal proposals being until Monday, November 17, at 10:00 a.m., and until Tuesday, November 18, at 11:00 a.m., the commissions for culture must give their opinion, writes Agerpres.
Also, the same terms are established for the proposals for the position of president of AEP, the opinion to be given by the legal commissions.
At the same time, the Permanent Offices distributed the activity reports of CNA, SRR, SRTv, CNCD to the specialized commissions. Thus, the activity reports of the National Broadcasting Council, the National Television Society and the National Broadcasting Society for the years 2023 and 2024 were sent for report to the Committees for culture, and to the Budget Committees for opinion on the budget execution account.
The activity reports of the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) for the years 2023 and 2024 were sent to the legal, human rights and equal opportunities commissions.
What names are circulated for AEP, TVR and Radio
The mandates of the current managements of the Romanian Broadcasting Society (public radio) and the Romanian Television (TVR) expire on November 15, and the governing coalition is preparing to make the new appointments, as in the case of AEP.
The new head of AEP will be given by PSD. The party has not yet agreed on the name that will be proposed: “There are several applicants”, PSD sources explained to HotNews. Currently, AEP is led on an interim basis by Zsombor Vajda, after former president Toni Greblă was dismissed from office in February of this year.
The proposal for a new mandate at the head of TVR must be made by the PNL. The liberals want the current CEO of TVR, Dan Turturică, to keep his position, according to HotNews sources from the party. Turturică has been head of TVR since November 2021, when he obtained the position also at the proposal of the PNL.
The mandate of the head of the TVR is 4 years and can be renewed, but the mandate can end even earlier if the annual activity report is rejected by the Parliament
The coalition is preparing new appointments at AEP, TVR and Radio. Names circulated
For the position of head of Public Radio, the proposal will come from USR, according to the protocol of the governing coalition. Here too, the party has not reached a conclusion regarding the name it will propose, but Liviu Popescu is a variant taken into account, according to HotNews sources.
Popescu was also in 2021 for a period of several months interim director of the SRR. And then he was also supported by USR, which at that time formed an alliance with PLUS. Currently, the head of Public Radio is Răzvan Dincă, who started his mandate in November 2021.
Another appointment that will be made in the next period is that of the People's Advocate. The appointment went to USR, which has already announced that it supports human rights expert Roxana Rizoiu to fill this position.
