35 cameras were installed in Norilsk to monitor waste removal

In Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, waste removal from residential buildings will be monitored by surveillance cameras. 35 cameras were installed by the management company Severny Upravdom LLC.

The Ministry of Ecology of the Krasnoyarsk Territory notes that the new equipment will help solve systemic problems with the removal of municipal solid waste (MSW): waste removal from shops to the sites of residential buildings, as well as parking of cars that impede the passage of garbage trucks.

Cameras placed on the facades of houses were installed at the expense of the management company and entered into the federal state information system for accounting for solid waste, which allows monitoring the situation on site remotely. The equipment will allow you to monitor order at sites, record violations, including car parking that interferes with the work of public utilities, and monitor the schedule of waste removal by the regional operator.

“If we receive complaints from owners, we can always check the data and provide reliable information. The cameras are located in such a way that they allow you to view the entire yard area. We can check whether the garbage is being collected, at what time, find out the reason for the failure in the schedule, and contact the regional one. If these are, for example, legal entities storing waste on residents’ sites, it is possible to take some measures,” Lyubov Poklonyaeva, head of the public relations department of the management company.

The system often helps in police work. All data, in real time, flows into a single control room. If necessary, you can find any record for the desired date.

“To establish order in the area of MSW management, three components are needed: an equipped site with a sufficient number of containers, timely removal of waste and compliance with the rules by all participants in the process. We deeply support the initiative of the management company. And we urge other companies to follow the example and participate in this process,” said Vladimir Chasovitin, Minister of Ecology of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

It should be noted that the regional Ministry of Ecology is currently implementing a pilot project in Krasnoyarsk, where “smart” cameras with artificial intelligence operate at six container sites. Domestic developments using neural network technologies are capable of recording violations, recognizing vehicle license plates and automatically generating protocols for violators. Data from such cameras is transmitted directly to the federal state waste accounting information system, which allows culprits to be fined automatically, without going to the site.

Work to restore order in the field of waste management is carried out within the framework of the federal project “Circular Economy” of the national project “Ecological Well-Being”.
