Crin Antonescu states that, under the leadership of Nicușor Dan, Romania practically became “invisible” internationally. “I'm afraid that, for some who aren't paying attention, Romania can't be seen at all. It's practically put on hiatus. For me, things are more and more surprising. I said it both before the elections and after, but I didn't expect it to be so bad“, said the former liberal leader, according to Stiripesurse.ro.
Referring directly to the president, Antonescu said that “everything is at the level of caricature. The president seems to be led by the hand to the meetings”. He emphasized the contrast between international political agitation and Romania's silence: “Looking at things from a distance, we have the extraordinary contrast between the multiform agitation, somehow unprecedented in world politics, and Romania's silence or disappearance. Romania is not what it used to be”.
The former candidate also criticized the way society is manipulated: “We are really taken for fools. We are dealing with an effort to dumb down a good part of society”.
As for Nicușor Dan, Antonescu showed that he does not have the necessary experience for the position of president: “No way Dan can. We have a problem. We elected this man for the supreme position in the state after we saw how he stood barricaded in the Capital City Hall. I could see that he had no idea about foreign policy or about an office of such importance. But the man was getting a nice haircut on TikTok and promising to drive the PSD out of government“.
