The Social Insurance Institution will recalculate the pensions of seniors who received a decision in June between 2009 and 2019. The same will also apply to family members of those insured, here we are talking about family pensions. The new regulations will also cover family members of people who died in June in the years 2009–2019, having the right to a pension or retirement age, but without a decision from ZUS.
We are talking about the so-called June pensions – ending work this month was sometimes associated with a less favorable method of indexation of contributions. In June, ZUS used only annual indexation instead of quarterly indexation. This meant that benefits could be as much as PLN 150-300 lower than in other months.

Now, with the Act of August 5, 2025 (Journal of Laws 2025, item 1169), this “June error” will be corrected. According to estimates of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, up to 103,000 people may benefit from a pension increase. people. What's more, retirees do not have to submit any applications because ZUS will examine the documents on its own, ex officio.

The new regulations will enter into force in January 2026. ZUS has three months to recalculate benefits, which means that retirees will see the first money in their account in March 2026. The changed pension amount will be calculated from the date of its original granting, taking into account all subsequent indexation. The average benefit increase is expected to amount to approximately PLN 220 per month.
