After the change of power in January 2024 Henryk Smolarz from PSL took over the helm of KOWR. According to the documents, despite appeals from CPK, the new director avoided actions aimed at regaining the key land for many months. According to Wirtualna Polska only in August 2025 did KOWR officials meet with Piotr Wielgomas. He was accompanied by his father – and both men, as determined by WP, were not encouraged to resell the plot. Meanwhile, CPK sent a notification to the prosecutor's office in this matter.
The culmination of the events was the meeting on September 18, 2025, when Smolarz received Andrzej Wielgomas in his office – just two days after providing journalists with answers regarding the entire case and a day after further talks with CPK about recovering the property. Smolarz claims that he did not know about the posted positions and assures that he only talked to the entrepreneur about… corn.

— If I had known that you had sent questions and I had answered them in some way, I would have been foolish to meet with Mr. Wielgomas in such circumstances. – he argued in an interview with WP.
The case arouses increasing emotions – both in the government and among public opinion. The circumstances of the transaction, the pace of KOWR's activities and the nature of Smolarz's contacts with a businessman who is key to one of the hottest political topics in recent months remain unexplained. One thing is certain: not only the prosecutor's office, but also the head of KOWR will have to provide an answer – this time, hopefully by reading the documents signed on his behalf.
