The European Parliament on Thursday supported the customs agreement concluded last year between the European Union and the United States. The next step will be negotiations with the Member States within the EU Council on the final shape of the regulations.

This is the agreement on trade tariffs between the EU and the USA, concluded by American President Donald Trump and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in July 2025 in Turnberry, Scotland.

This agreement provides for the introduction of customs duties of 15%. on European industrial goods imported to the US from the EU, including cars.

The EU, for its part, has committed to reducing customs duties on some agricultural products imported to Europe from the US, but the so-called sensitive products such as beef, poultry and sugar. The EU is to introduce a zero tariff on nuts, soy, some fish and seafood and pet food. (PAP)
