According to the consulting firm ExPro, the companies DEPA Commercial (Greece), DTEK D.Trading (Ukraine) and Axpo Trading (Switzerland) have reserved a daily capacity of about 0.6 million cubic meters for the supply of gas to Ukraine. The Trans-Balkan Pipeline was no longer used in September and October, previously operating only in July-August.
Russian attacks in October cut Ukraine's domestic gas production by 55 percent, forcing Kiev to consider importing an additional 4 billion cubic meters to heat its cities in winter. Currently, Ukraine imports about 24 million cubic meters per day, including more than 10 million from Poland, about 10 million from Hungary and more than 4 million from Slovakia.
The resumption of supply on the trans-Balkan route was also possible thanks to the tariff reductions applied by operators from Romania and Moldova.
On the night of October 30, Russia launched a combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine, targeting energy facilities and residential areas in regions such as Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kiev and the west of the country.
