According to T1 Innotech (part of the T1 IT holding), based on the consolidated statements of Russian banks participating in the ORICS system, at the end of the first half of 2025, the ratio of losses from operational risk to income in Russian banks participating in the ORICS system was 0.92% in annual terms (i.e., 92 kopecks from every 100 rubles of profit).
This figure is down 40% from 2024 levels.
“Operational risks are becoming increasingly volatile, and their impact on the financial results of banks is traditionally large. Therefore, it is critical not only to analyze your own losses, but also to compare your performance with the market,” noted Andrey Gulidin, Deputy General Director of T1 Innotech.
The share of the largest losses (over 7 million rubles) also decreased: in 2025 it constitutes less than 9% of all direct losses compared to 15% in 2024. This indicates a reduction in the impact of major events on the risk profile of banks. However, the level of concentration in this group remains high: more than half of all losses (51%) are still associated with incidents of this scale. On average, about 25 such cases were registered in one bank over the six months, each of which brought losses in the amount of about 32.7 million rubles.
The majority of losses traditionally fall into three categories: external fraud (59%), process management violations (17%) and violations of customer rights (7%). Collectively, they form more than 80% of the total losses.
Data on the Russian financial sector were obtained from regulatory reports that were provided by banks participating in the ORICS system. The ORICS platform processed reports from 14 banks (including representatives of the top 10), starting in the fourth quarter of 2022. The security and confidentiality of data is ensured by information security means of the system that meet GOST requirements for an enhanced level of information protection.
ORICS (included in the Russian software register) is a comparative analytics service for operational risk from T1 Innotech.
