“You don't have to be personally connected to the players”

Constantin Gâlcă left Rapid after the match with Craiova University, 0-0. At the end of the game, he launched harsh accusations at the management.

The coach said that many decisions related to the team were made over his head. Gâlcă also said that certain footballers are “personally connected to the management”, which is why he could not take measures against them.

He did not name anyone, but one of those targeted would be Alexandru Dobre, the former captain of the team and one of the favorites of the Șucu couple.

Also, Costel Gâlcă let it be understood that he did not agree with the transfers of Daniel Paraschiv and Olimpiu Moruțan.

Constantin Gâlcă: “From my point of view, nothing should tie you personally to the players”

“I would have liked us to win, but they had more chances. A typical end-of-season game, with no stakes. I'm disappointed because we were up and we fell a lot and we didn't stop. If you want to fight for the championship, you have to know how to manage such moments.

I don't mind that the future coach has been announced. I'm quite direct and I don't mind that. I'm guilty too, but, I told you, the decisions were different if I was the only one making them. That's why we held meetings, we said pros and cons, what we needed in the team. These are decisions that I did not make entirely.

The same in Craiova, we said let one come, that one had to come. It was there according to the possibilities of the club.

Players that I did not propose also came here. There were many. I told the players who came both pros and cons. Paraschiv and Moruțan needed time, because they haven't played for a long time. I told them they needed time.

Thanks to the fans, they appreciated our work. We wanted to do a lot, but we couldn't. I think it has to be planned ahead of time, we have to think a lot more about what we want.

It doesn't have to bind our relationships with the players so much. We must judge them only by what they do professionally. From my point of view, you don't have to connect anything personally with the players, only the professional plan, what they played, how much they played, because that's why they are paid.

From my point of view, the players must have discipline, respect the club”, declared Gâlcă, on Prima Sport 1.

Gâlcă continued at the press conference

Gâlcă continued on the same note at the press conference.

“I didn't have a discussion with Țucu or Angelescu, I haven't had a meeting since April. Let's not be absurd. If I made the decisions, I tell you they were totally different.

I had some opinions, there was also a sports director, Victor was at every meeting and he also had his opinion. I also said what problems there are with the players who came, I can't say that they belonged to me entirely.

I'd rather go home. You can't help but make decisions when you have problems in the team. I was talking to them directly. I, in my own way, am very direct and transparent, I take responsibility for everything that happened, I am the coach, but I told you: if it depended only on me, there were other decisions. Discussions have been there all along. I don't regret the decision, but I should have had other clauses in the contract, I should have decided more.

You know some discussions, I know discussions from long ago. There is a goal, there is a contract, no problem. I'm leaving disappointed because we didn't reach our goal”, said Gâlcă.

I don't give advice to Daniel Pancu, I didn't give it to the players either. I talked to them now, at the end. The group is important, not them individually. They have to think about the club, not them. Rapid lacks those good decisions: to be able to take risks, to evaluate the players properly, and if necessary, the coach as well. To make decisions, to be as clear and practical as possible, in order to be successful.
