A salt room has opened in a kindergarten in the Motyginsky district. The project was made possible thanks to a grant from the Polyus charitable foundation.

One of the winners of the Polyus Foundation grant competition this year was the project “Equipment of a salt room”, aimed at developing healthy lifestyle habits and preventing diseases among preschool children. Its ideological inspirers and organizers were the employees and management of the Yolochka kindergarten in the village of Motygino.

In the Motyginsky district, the incidence rate of preschool children remains high from year to year. This is due to harsh climate conditions, distance from the regional center (500 km) and seasonal impassability. Thanks to grant support from the Polyus Foundation, the Yolochka kindergarten was able to organize its own salt room.

Being in it has a beneficial effect on the immune system and helps resist respiratory diseases, relieves irritability and fatigue, and improves sleep quality. It is believed that staying in such a room even replaces a course of antibiotics. According to the results of a survey conducted in 2024 among 240 parents, 83% supported the idea of creating a room.

“The salt procedure for preventive purposes is useful for everyone. We hope that the incidence of ARVI among children will significantly decrease,” says project organizer, head of the Yolochka kindergarten Lyudmila Ermakova. — Some kindergartens in Krasnoyarsk have had such rooms for a long time. But it’s easier in the city – there you can make hardening pools and introduce other procedures. In our northern conditions, we must somehow harden children, and, importantly, for free. A wellness room like this has been my long-time dream.”

The salt room at Yolochka is open and welcoming children from September 1st. Its walls are covered with a three-millimeter layer of salt, and there is also a layer of salt on the floor. But the most important thing is the halogenerator, which was manufactured in St. Petersburg. Salt is put into it, and when a special computer program is turned on, the body is exposed to salt particles both for the treatment and prevention of colds. To make it more interesting for children, the room has an interactive table with lighting for sand painting, a TV, and toys.

“This year, for the first time, the Motyginsky District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory took part in the Polyus Fund competitions, and we are glad that one of the winners was the project to create a salt room in a kindergarten,” said Alexander Sabeev, General Director of the Polyus Fund. — The project provides for conducting classes in an equipped room not only for pupils of the Elochka kindergarten, but also for preschoolers in the villages of Belsk, Rybnoye, Razdolinsk. Thus, even more children will be able to improve their health in the new salt room.”

Let us remind you that a new grant competition will be announced in November 2025. All necessary information for submitting applications for grant competitions can be found on the official website of the Polyus Fund.
