Krasnoyarsk residents are invited to the Winter Surikov Arts Festival

The XX Winter Surikov Arts Festival has started in Krasnoyarsk. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Culture and the press service of the city administration.
The anniversary festival, dedicated to the life and work of the great Russian artist Vasily Surikov, opened with a concert of the Krasnoyarsk Brass Band in the Small Concert Hall. Shpiller. The Moscow opera star Anastasia Lepeshinskaya and euphonium virtuoso, popularizer of wind music Oleg Abramov performed on stage. The guests and participants of the ceremony were greeted by the mayor of the city, Sergei Vereshchagin.
“Our festival is 20 years old! His events were united by a beautiful idea – the sons of the Siberian land. We are all descendants of the great painter. Wherever we are, we glorify the culture of our native city in the same way as Vasily Surikov did. It is our responsibility to preserve his legacy! I hope that in the year of the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk, the festival venues will be the new cultural space Surikov Center and the restored museum-estate of Vasily Ivanovich,” the mayor noted.
The organizers said that the festival program includes more than 40 events. These include concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, excursions and educational projects. So, a branded bus has already started plying around the city. It follows route No. 55. Passengers can hear an audio play about the artist’s journey to the Krasnoyarsk of the future. The excursion route “Looking to Siberia” has also begun work – to the painter’s favorite places. For three hours, its participants will visit the Chapel of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, the Krutovsky Garden and the Tsar Fish observation deck. The excursion will take place on January 18 and 24.
Also in the home of the great artist, a new exhibition “Impasto” began working. She offers to dive deeper into the work of Vasily Surikov. Those interested can also attend the “Underground Tour” on January 15 and 19.
“Our festival has grown a lot. There are more and more formats that introduce the work of the eminent fellow countryman. We want city residents to see how Krasnoyarsk culture is growing and changing. We try to invent something new to surprise our viewers every year,” said Lyubov Sakharova, head of the main department of culture.
From January 20 to 24, the House of Cinema will host a series of screenings of the retrospective “The Legacy of Nikita Mikhalkov. Dedication to the Master.” The festival will conclude with the literary and musical concert “The Priceless Gift” in the Great Concert Hall of the Regional Philharmonic.
