“In order to avoid compromising the relationship with the United States of America and not heading towards an irreparable diplomatic disaster in relation to our strategic partner, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan must immediately withdraw his proposal submitted to President Nicusor Dan by which he nominates Mrs. Oana Gheorghiu as Deputy Prime Minister in the Government of Romania!

Those who dream of high positions in the Romanian state must understand once and for all that every irresponsible statement thrown into the public space directly hits Romania's strategic interests!”, transmits Grindeanu on Facebook

According to him, the current government is “already full of anti-American voices and critics of the Trump Administration”. It also requests that PSD be consulted in such situations.

“In a Government already full of anti-American voices and critics of the Trump Administration, how do such appointments help and give credibility to Romania's efforts on important issues in relation to the transatlantic ally? I remind you of the Visa Waiver, a step so awaited by all Romanians!

That is why I believe that such an institutional approach by the Prime Minister must be urgently reconsidered.

I ask the Coalition partner Ilie Bolojan to take into account the point of view of the PSD and urgently withdraw the proposal to appoint Mrs. Gheorghiu from this position of high public dignity in the Romanian state.

There are no half measures on this subject. PSD must be consulted in such decisions!”, Grindeanu adds.

On Wednesday, Ilie Bolojan proposed Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of the Donate Life Association, for the position of deputy prime minister.

The Prime Minister publicly thanked him for accepting the proposal, stating that his involvement will be essential in the reforms “absolutely necessary that Romania needs in this period”.

Oana Gheorghiu is 56 years old and graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, class of 1994, specializing in economic management. From February 2025, she is co-president of the Donate Life Association, after previously being vice-president.
