Czarzasty accuses the president. “Because of Nawrocki's policy, we are not in London”

If we do not talk to the president of Ukraine and if we reject Ukraine, we should not be surprised that we are not at the tables where the future of this country is decided – said Włodzimierz Czarzasty, Speaker of the Sejm, in a conversation with journalists on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, during a conversation with journalists in the Sejm, Marshal Czarzasty was asked about Zelenskiy's statement on Monday that he would be happy to meet President Nawrocki. He informed that he had invited him to Kiev. He also assured that he would visit Poland himself when he received an invitation from the Polish head of state. – Ukraine respects Poland and is grateful to Poland for accepting our people, helping and supporting us, Zelensky noted.

In turn, the head of the Polish president's office, Zbigniew Bogucki, said that Nawrocki was counting on a meeting with Zelensky in Warsaw. After the words of the Ukrainian leader, Marcin Przydacz, head of the Presidential Office of International Policy, announced that work was underway “in diplomatic contacts that are open and active” on the date of the meeting of the two presidents in Warsaw.

When asked about the Polish president's approach to a possible meeting with Zełenski, Czarzasty said that he “knows what such gestures and the lack of clear statements on such matters lead to.” – The president's policy means that Poland is not in London – he said, referring to the Monday meeting of the leaders of Great Britain, France and Germany, Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz, with Zelensky on achieving peace in Ukraine; No representative of Poland took part in this meeting.

– I blame the president for these situations. This means leaving and presenting a foreign policy that is inconsistent with the government, and this leads to Poland being perceived less and less as a serious partner in all talks – continued the Speaker of the Sejm. – How can you enter into a dispute with the president of Ukraine again when we are not in London? – he added.

– If we do not talk to the president of Ukraine, if we reject Ukraine, we should not be surprised that we are not at the tables.where they decide about the future of Ukraine, the future of Europe and, to a large extent, the future of Poland. This is simply irresponsible, said Czarzasty, accusing Nawrocki of, among other things, criticizing the Polish government in talks with foreign partners, including in the USA. – This is creating a bad atmosphere around Poland, and foreign policy should be coherent – he said.

On November 17, in an interview for “Do Rzeczy”, President Nawrocki said that he was inviting President Volodymyr Zelensky to Poland. “I hope he will be my guest in Warsaw. I invite President Zelensky to meet the Ukrainians who are in Poland, thank the Poles and bring back good information about the exhumation in Volhynia, which we are waiting for,” he added.

On October 27, Ukrainian ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar reported in a comment for the state agency Ukrinform that the Ukrainian side had proposed to the Polish side several possible dates for President Karol Nawrocki's visit to Kiev. “Contacts between the presidents are important for Ukraine and Poland. I proposed several dates that were accepted by the Polish side for consideration. There was no negative response,” Bodnar emphasized. (PAP)
