Two suspects in the Louvre robbery were detained in France, a museum employee is under suspicion – media

According to the publications, the suspect was preparing to board a flight to Algeria. Journalists did not have detailed information about the detainee at the time of publication.

TF1 reported another detainee, he was arrested in the Paris suburb of Aubervilliers. The channel learned that both detainees are about 30 years old and come from the Seine-Saint-Denis department in northern France. None of the jewelry stolen from the Louvre was found in their possession.

The Telegraph, citing sources close to the investigation, wrote that detectives investigating the Louvre robbery discovered that a museum security officer had contact with the criminals before the robbery. According to media reports, this is evidenced by digital forensic evidence obtained during the investigation. Police believe the attackers were given confidential inside information about the museum's security system by one of the museum's security guards before the robbery. Thanks to this, they were able to quickly carry out the robbery.

Paris prosecutor Laure Becco, whose office is leading the investigation, said “dozens of DNA samples were found in the gallery, including on helmets, gloves, angle grinders and a vest abandoned by the robbers.” They were taken for research, which, despite its priority, takes time. At the same time, police officers rely on these results because they can provide leads, especially if the criminals are in the database.

TF1 mentioned in the publication that the identities of the two detainees in the case were established due to the fact that they were known to law enforcement because they had previously participated in burglaries. Sources told France Télévisions they were identified thanks to DNA found on the grounds of the Louvre.
