He thanked Witkoff for his work on the way to establish peace in Ukraine, noted that he spent more time with the Russians than any of the Americans, and asked how many hours in total he had negotiations with representatives of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation.
“Probably about 24 or 25 hours of personal time with him [Путиным] And his other people, ”the special representative answered.
Vitcoff specified that these people are Putin's assistant Yuri Ushakov and the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry of Russia Sergey Lavrov.
Context
As of the end of April 2025, Witkoff visited Russia at least four times with official visits.
According to Financial Times, in May Vitkoff allegedly had to visit the Russian Federation for the fifth time, but the visit was canceled, because Putin refused to discuss a peace plan out of 22 points proposed by the United States.
On the morning of August 6, Witkoff arrived in Moscow again, where he was met by Putin’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation Kirill Dmitriev. They walked around the park in the center of Moscow.
After that, Witkoff met with Putin. The meeting lasted about three hours.
