The carbon deposits fall off on its own: this pot life hack saves you even after “forgotten soup” on the stove

If you leave the kitchen for a minute and return to a pan covered with a thick layer of black soot, do not rush to throw it away. Even the most “dead” pots can be brought back to life without aggressive chemicals, steel wool and hours-long grinding.

You will need three simple ingredients that are found in any kitchen.

What you will need:

Water – 2 glasses
Table vinegar 9% – ½ cup
Baking soda – 2 tbsp. spoons
Soft sponge or silicone brush

How to do:

  • Pour 2 cups water and ½ cup vinegar into a saucepan.
  • Place over medium heat and bring to a boil.
  • Cook for 10–15 minutes, the acid will begin to soften the carbon deposits.
  • Remove from heat, add 2 tbsp. spoons of soda.
  • Leave for 20-30 minutes. During this time, the black plaque will begin to peel off on its own.
  • Wipe gently with a soft sponge. In most cases, carbon deposits go away without effort.
  • If the carbon deposits are very old, repeat the procedure or leave the mixture overnight and boil again in the morning.
  • Do not use steel wool as they will scratch enamel and aluminum, leaving the surface even more vulnerable to future scorching.
  • It's better to spend an extra 10 minutes re-cooking than to ruin the cookware forever.

This method is suitable for enameled, stainless and aluminum pans.

Question and answer:

Is it possible to clean a burnt pan with vinegar and soda?
Yes, vinegar softens carbon deposits, and soda enhances the cleaning effect due to its light abrasive and foaming properties.

Why shouldn't you use steel wool?
They leave scratches in which dirt accumulates faster and new deposits form.
