As of 0.20 am on Friday, October 24, the initiative’s website indicates that 8,549 donors have already donated 13.3 million crowns to DANA 1.
“After payment, the missile will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They will determine the date of its use and the purpose. Perhaps we will soon find out where it landed,” the volunteers write.
They decided to name the rocket DANA 1 in honor of Dana Drabova, a politician and physicist from the Czech Republic, who died in early October.
The fundraiser was announced on October 21. The volunteers planned to raise the required amount in a week, Darek pro Putina organizer Martin Ondracek told Novinky.
As part of the initiative, the Czechs are also raising money for drones, field ambulances and an aircraft for training F-16 fighter pilots, all for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Context
The Ukrainian-made FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile has already been successfully tested and the Ukrainian defense forces are already using it against the aggressor country of the Russian Federation. They fly at an altitude of only 50 m above the ground, which makes detection difficult, and the flight range of the missile, which carries a charge of 1,150 kg of explosives, is more than 3 thousand km.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called the Flamingo the most successful Ukrainian-made weapon. He stated that mass production will begin in January–February 2026.
