WBD rejected Paramout Skydance's first offer
The announcement was published after reports of interest in taking over WBD from Paramount Skydance, the owner of, among others, Paramount studios, CBS television and the Paramount+ streaming platform. According to Bloomberg, WBD rejected the company's first purchase offer as too low. If the transaction were to take place, it would be one of the largest mergers in the media world.
Paramount Skydance is a concern owned by David Ellison, the son of one of the richest men in the world, Larry Ellison, a close ally of President Donald Trump. This company was formed this year as a result of the acquisition of Paramount by Skydance Ellison. The takeover of this company was finalized in controversial circumstances, because the company received consent to the transaction after concluding a settlement and paying $16 million to the Donald Trump Foundation. This happened in connection with the president's lawsuit alleging that CBS, owned by Paramount, manipulated an interview with Kamala Harris during the election campaign.
