Iran warns the US. It threatens to break the agreement

US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire in Lebanon on Thursday. This was a key condition set by Iran to unblock shipping through Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi announced on Friday the opening of the strait to commercial ships. Trump confirmed this decision in a post on the Truth Social platform and thanked him for it.

The representative of the Iranian authorities emphasized that Tehran had clearly defined the conditions for unblocking navigation through Hormuz from the very beginning. Iranian officials, however, warn that continuing the naval blockade by the US will be treated as a violation of the agreement.

Iran has set precise navigation rules

A source close to the government outlined three key conditions that must be met during passage through the strait. Freedom of navigation applies only to merchant ships, which must navigate the route designated by Iran. Each crossing also requires the consent of the relevant Iranian services, reports the Fars agency affiliated with the Iranian army.

The representative of the Iranian military clarified that only civilian units can transit designated routes with the consent of the IRGC Navy. Even American ships will be allowed, with the exception of naval vessels.

Trump also said that the US naval blockade of Iranian ports will remain in force. Freedom of navigation through the strait is to last until the end of the ceasefire between Iran and the USA, i.e. until the night of April 21-22, Polish time.
