In Krasnoyarsk, cases of fraud have become more frequent, when attackers, under the guise of marketplace employees, lure confirmation codes from SMS from citizens. The manager of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Bank of Russia, Sergei Zhuravlev, warned about this.

According to the expert, scammers follow a well-established scheme: they call a person and introduce themselves as employees of a popular marketplace, reporting about the delivery of goods allegedly registered in his name. For credibility, they name the recipient's last name, first name and address. If the victim did not place an order, she is convinced that it could be a gift.
Then, supposedly to confirm the date and place of delivery of the order, the scammers ask for a code from an SMS or push notification. The message that comes during the conversation contains the password from the bank, which the attackers use to access the account.
A Bank of Russia specialist recommends immediately interrupting such conversations and not sharing SMS codes with anyone. Real marketplace employees never ask for passport details, confirmation codes or bank card information. If you have any suspicions, you should contact the official support service of the trading platform yourself.
