The prosecutor asked for 13 years in prison for ex-deputy of the Berezovsky District Council Alexander Welker. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory agency.

According to the prosecutor's office, in 2016, a deputy used forged documents to buy three municipal land plots at a discounted price of 554 thousand rubles. Despite the fact that the real value of these lands at that time was much higher – 269 million rubles.

After this, the official was suspected of extortion. Employees of the supervisory agency conducted an inspection and found out that in 2021, Alexander Welker, under the threat of violence and the dissemination of defamatory information, extorted 20.8 million rubles from the chairman of the Communist Party of Communities “Soviet”.

“The victim entered into an unfavorable loan agreement, gave the money and transferred the rights to the apartment in the amount of more than 11.5 million rubles,” said law enforcement officers.

Later, a criminal case was opened against the now former deputy of the Berezovsky District Council for fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and extortion on an especially large scale (clause “b” of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Alexander Welker did not admit guilt. At the trial, the ex-official insisted that at the time of purchase there were real estate objects on the land. And the chairman of the cooperative owed him and his friends 20 million rubles.

The state prosecutor requested for the former deputy a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 13 years to be served in a maximum security colony. The next court hearing is scheduled for 14:00 on November 10.
