Trump flew to Florida for the weekend. Putin’s negotiator went there

He announced possible meetings there with representatives of the US insurance and pharmaceutical businesses. Trump usually flies to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Miami, Florida, on weekends.

Trump did not talk about participating in negotiations with the Russian and American delegations, but a number of media outlets suggest a connection between these events.

The negotiator of the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kirill Dmitriev, reported to X at night that he was already on his way to Miami. Reuters wrote this morning that he is going to the United States to meet with the US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Also on Friday in Miami, Vitkoff and Kushner met with Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov.

Context

The delegations of Ukraine and the USA have already held a series of rounds of negotiations on a “peace plan” for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war. In parallel, the American side is discussing the same issue with the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in an interview with Bloomberg on December 8, said that elements of the US plan require further discussion regarding a number of “sensitive issues,” in particular, regarding territorial issues and security guarantees for Ukraine.

December 10 Trump had a “tense” telephone conversation with the leaders of France, Germany and Great Britain, urging them to put pressure on Zelensky to agree to the terms of the “peace plan,” WSJ reported. Same day Ukraine transferred to the American side, a framework document for a peace plan consisting of 20 main points, the president reported.
