Donald Trump comments on the events in the Gaza Strip. The ceasefire continues

Donald Trump had a short conversation with journalists on board Air Force One. When asked by a reporter to comment on the events that took place in the Gaza Strip on Sunday – Israeli airstrikes and the death of two Israeli soldiers, he replied:

— We want to make sure that things will be very peaceful with Hamas. As you know, they were quite aggressive…There was a shooting, we think that the command is not involved – that it was some rebels — but one way or another… the matter will be treated severely but properly, announced the US president.

When asked if the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was still in force, Trump replied that it was.

On Sunday, the Israeli army announced that it was attacked in the morning near the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip by “terrorists” and responded with fire. Two soldiers were killed in the shelling. Israeli authorities attributed responsibility for the attack to Hamas. Israeli forces also carried out a series of airstrikes against Hamas targets.
