Krasnoyarsk resident Evgeny Spirin took part in the publication of Nikolai Gogol’s story “Viy” in Bengali in Bangladesh. Translated the book fan of Russian culture Shamsudduha Tawhid, write gornovosti.ru.
The book was published in the capital of the country, Dhaka, with an afterword from a Krasnoyarsk resident. For a long time he was involved in popularizing the work of the poet Nikolai Rubtsov. At the same time, Spirin began collaborating with the translator Shamsuddukha Tauhid.
The Bengali writer decided to translate the works of the Russian poet, and the Krasnoyarsk resident helped him better understand his work. The difficulty lay not only in the difference in languages, but also in mentality, and even climate – Rubtsov sang of the Russian winter, which the translator had never seen.
The successful collaboration continued with work on Gogol's Viy. The book became an instant hit among Bengali readers, with over 150 copies sold out on the first day along with pre-orders.
