According to CNAS, the new developing platform will have a modern computer architecture and current functionalities, including connectivity and interoperability with other health systems.
The modernization and resizing of the computer platform administered by CNAS is carried out with European funds, within the National Program for Redress and Resility (PNRR).
“Time does not forgive, especially in technology. The Pias platform was a pioneering project regarding the health computerization and ensuring a unitary framework for managing the over 18 million beneficiaries of the public health system. The considerable age, the increased number of users from year to year, the increased number of computer requests made simultaneously, the huge volume of integrated data are just a few of the elements that show us that this system has reached its limits and can no longer keep up with the needs and expectations of patients and medical service providers. At CNAS we are working on the project of the new computer platform, which comes with good news for users, both from the perspective of ensuring a friendly and accessible environment, and in terms of digitizing documents related to the medical act, which means more time for health. In parallel, we maintain the current platform functionally to guarantee the continuity of providing medical services and medicines for patients”, Said the president of CNAS, conf. Univ. Dr. Horațiu-Remus Moldovan.
The way of implementing, functioning and administration of the most complex computer system in Romania, the computer insurance computer platform (PIAS), was the topic of a performance audit at CNAS, made by the Court of Accounts for the period 2000 – 2024. The recommendations of the audit report validated the decision of the CNAS management to design and realize a new computer system.
“With the development of this new platform, CNAS strengthens its institutional ability to manage a direct impact infrastructure for millions of citizens and tens of thousands of medical service providers.”, Informed the institution.
