In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a record reduction in the area of ​​forest fires was recorded in 2025, reported in Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry of the Region. The results of the fire season in the region were discussed at a meeting of the government presidium chaired by the regional governor, Mikhail Kotyukov.

In total, in 2025, 614 forest fires covering 22.5 thousand hectares were extinguished in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which is 43% less than last year’s result. This became possible thanks to the large-scale modernization of the forest fire protection system and the effective interaction of all operational services and departments.

The leading cause of wildfires in 2025 was thunderstorms, which started almost 65% of fires. 116 people were brought to administrative responsibility. The investigative bodies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia received 22 reports of forest fires with signs of a criminal offense.

Thanks to the support of the federal budget in The region hired 297 new air firefighters, expanded the existing air units of the forest fire center and opened a new unit in Turukhansk. In addition, by the end of 2025 it is planned to purchase special equipment and more than 300 pieces of equipment: radio stations, satellite phones, quadcopters, thermal imagers, tents, wheeled all-terrain vehicles.

Preparations for the new fire season have already begun. In 2026, the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory plans to continue modernization. Municipalities will be allocated 200 million rubles for primary fire safety measures, Deputy Prime Minister of the regional government Leonid Shorokhov spoke about this.

“This year, the monitoring and timely response system worked well, including thanks to the use of modern Russian developments – drones, digital technologies, video monitoring, which make it possible to quickly detect and transmit the appropriate signal to operational services. The key achievement is the absence of fires spreading to populated areas and infrastructure. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our firefighters, emergency services employees, everyone who worked tirelessly in very difficult natural and climatic conditions. The result of that work is obvious. I ask everyone who has shown themselves in a special way to be nominated for awards – regional and federal,” shared the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov.
