Monday morning brings calming down in the financial markets after Friday's turmoil caused by the US President's statements. The Polish zloty accepted the global turmoil with stoic calm, and the euro exchange rate remained in the sideways trend that has been in force for half a year.

At 9:59 the euro exchange rate was PLN 4.2620 and was similar to what we observed on Friday evening. Earlier, however, the quotations of the euro-zloty pair jumped to close to PLN 4.27, reacting to President Trump's harsh comments regarding China. However, the EUR/PLN exchange rate is still in a sideways trend ranging from PLN 4.23 to PLN 4.31. This situation has been going on since April.

However, on Sunday the American leader significantly softened his stance, which calmed down the mood in the financial markets. On the global currency market, this resulted in the EUR/USD exchange rate returning above USD 1.16. However, we can still talk about a downward correction in the “Eurodollar”, which set a 4-year maximum above USD 1.19 in mid-September.
In this situation, the dollar on the Polish market cost PLN 3.6738 and was almost a penny more expensive than before the weekend. Recent increases in the USD/PLN exchange rate have called into question the downward trend observed since the beginning of this year. In the “tactical” horizon, we should rather talk about a sideways trend in the range of PLN 3.60-3.80.
However, the Swiss franc was valued at PLN 4.5783, i.e. half a grosz lower than the day before. The Swiss franc-zloty pair, similarly to the euro-zloty, has an oyster mushroom. In this case, it is the range of PLN 4.50-4.60 – in such a “corridor” the franc has been quoted since mid-April.
In turn, the prices of the British pound remain close to long-term lows. In the morning, sterling was valued at just under PLN 4.90. This year's minimum for the pound-zloty pair is PLN 4.8415 and was set at the end of September. The pound was then the cheapest since December 2020.
