Over time, scale appears on the walls of the kettle, especially if the water is hard. It not only spoils the appearance, but also reduces the heating efficiency and also affects the taste of the water. Many people use vinegar or citric acid, but the smell of vinegar does not disappear for weeks, and the acid sometimes leaves streaks.
But there is an easier and more pleasant way. Everything you need is already at home. You don't even need to go to the store.
You will need:
300 ml of any dark soda
1 tablespoon baking soda,
An old toothbrush or soft sponge.
How to do:
- Pour the gizzard into the kettle. It should cover the area with scale.
- Add soda. It will enhance the cleansing effect due to its mild abrasiveness and reaction with the acid from the soda.
- Turn on the kettle and bring to a boil.
- After boiling, do not turn off, let stand for 15–20 minutes.
- Drain the solution, rinse the kettle with warm water and gently wipe off any remaining scale with a toothbrush.
- Boil clean water 1-2 times to remove traces of carbonation.
This method is suitable for electric and regular kettles, as well as teapots.
