The latest data from BIG InfoMonitor and the BIK database show that the financial arrears of companies constructing buildings decreased by over PLN 508 million, or 14%. year to year and amount to over PLN 3 billion. At the same time, in the specialist works segment, debts increased by PLN 328 million, or over 20%, approaching PLN 2 billion.

“Construction is one of the sectors with the highest amount of arrears in the Polish economy,” emphasized the authors of the report.

Data from the end of August – as they reported – indicate a deteriorating situation of smaller entities, often those acting as subcontractors. “There remains a strong asymmetry in the construction market, smaller entities do not have effective tools to collect receivables, which destabilizes the entire segment and requires the introduction of systemic solutions,” says the chief analyst of BIG InfoMonitor, Dr. Hab., quoted in the report. Waldemar Rogowski. In his opinion, the slowdown in the industry is being passed on to smaller companies.

The president of BIG InfoMonitor, Paweł Szarkowski, assessed that this sector is particularly vulnerable to payment backlogs, and almost 5 percent struggle with lack of financial liquidity. market. “Although the number of debtors has decreased over the last year, both in the building construction segment (PKD 41) and in the specialist works and subcontractors segment (PKD 43), the instability of this sector should be a signal for business partners to pay attention to the risks related to the lack of financial credibility,” Szarkowski said.
