The Polish coal mining industry has been generating significant financial losses in recent years, going through one of the most serious crises in history. In the case of some mining companies, such as JSW, it has long been known that there are big problems there. However, there are companies that have been held up as role models.
She was such an example Inamorata. It is widely recognized as the most effective and structurally profitable hard coal mine in Poland. This is due to its unique geological conditions, high degree of mechanization and high labor productivity per employee. In this context, the latest results fall short.
Bogdanka is in the red. New financial results
The Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka Capital Group announced on Wednesday that it had achieved in the first quarter of 2026 consolidated sales revenues of PLN 702.6 million. This did not translate into final profit. The net loss amounted to PLN 22.1 million, and the EBITDA result was PLN 25.2 million, with an EBITDA margin of 3.6%.
“In the first quarter of 2026, Despite falling demand, changes in the energy sector and competition from cheap coal sold below mining costs, we have maintained financial stability, increasing yield and investing in new mines” – comments Zbigniew Stopa, president of the management board of LW Bogdanka.

He emphasizes that “the development of LW Bogdanka as a sustainable and innovative industrial and energy business, responding to the needs of the environment, the local community and diversifying sources of income, will only be possible thanks to the synergy between the company's activities and a stable and rational market environment, including regulations favoring efficient mining and strengthening energy security.”
Bogdanka shows data on coal production and sales
LW Bogdanka sold 2.08 million tons of commercial coal in the first quarter of 2026. Despite a decrease of 6.9 percent year to yearmaintained a strong position on the market, reaching 29.1%. share in coal supplies to the professional power industry in Poland.
Production of commercial coal amounted to almost 2.04 million tons, i.e. 616 thousand more than tons less than in the first quarter of 2025 (-23.2%). At the same time, the coal yield increased to 71.4%, which means an improvement of 2.4 percentage points. compared to the first quarter of 2025

The stock exchange did not react in any significant way to the latest results. Bogdanka's share prices on Wednesday are close to the level from the previous day. The exchange rate is around PLN 21.45.
