How much CIT does the tobacco industry pay in Poland. Philip Morris criticizes other producers

Since 2012, i.e. since the Ministry of Finance has published data on its pages on the largest CIT payers in the country, Philip Morris International (PMI) has paid about PLN 2.1 billion of CIT in Poland at approx. The company employs nearly 21.5 thousand in the EU employees, including over 4,000 in Poland. In the years 2019-2023, the American company allocated EUR 43.3 billion for investments in the EU. This is the amount covering the construction of new facilities and production lines, the development of the skills of employees and colleagues, the construction and development of a network of partners and distributors, as well as cooperation with the agricultural sector and retail. PMI cooperates with 45,000 suppliers in the EU, including over 8,000 companies in Poland. The value of the purchase of tobacco by PMI as part of the EU in 2019-2023 amounted to EUR 625 million-reports the EY report.
On the Vistula, according to the calculations of Philip Morris Polska, the total value of the company's investment in 1996-2024 exceeded PLN 30 billion. This amount also covers the last one Investment in a factory in Krakow, completed in March 2025, worth nearly PLN 1 billionthanks to which the plant began to produce two types of tobacco inserts for heating. The investment has enabled the creation of over 350 specialized workstations and expanding the company's Polish exports to heated tobacco.
