Nearly half of the cases conducted by the Central Office for Cybercriminality Combat are online fraud – said the head of CBZC Nadinsp. Adam Cieślak during Cyber24day. The perpetrators of cyber criminals are already groups aged 16+.

– A very wide group of crimes that also affects ordinary citizens and entrepreneurs, these are various types of fraud. As for the scale of matters conducted by our office, it is over 50 percent. matters concerns fraud – emphasized the Commander of the CBZC, appearing during the panel at a conference on cybersecurity issues.

In his opinion, the most investment fraud deserve attention – due to the number of crimes and huge losses, what are their consequences. – Sometimes the perpetrators can attack the same victim three times, largely due to its naivety – added Cieślak.

As the deputy head of the Maritime Cybersecurity Center Jakub Syta, who was present at the conference, is increasingly wider, the groups of people who have been injured the so -called Romance Scam. These are fraud that is based on creating intimate relationships with the victim.

He explained that crimes referred to as “pig butcheering” are about persuading victims to be more and more payments, which ruins victims financially and mentally.

On the one hand, such people lose all the money, on the other hand they will lose their dignity and respect for themselves – said Syta.

Syta also noticed that the perpetrators' profile of cyber criminality is changing – groups are increasingly visible – as he said – “talented youth”, including Operating outside Poland – lapsus $ or scatted spider. – These are groups of teenagers, often 16+, which can effectively break into the most powerful organizations in the world – we mean Telekomy – he emphasized.

Director of the Cybercrime and Computerization Department at the National Prosecutor's Office Agnieszka Gryszczyńska admitted that this is also a problem known in the country. Recently, investigators waited for the perpetrator to be 17 and committed his first crime to stop him – she said.

Gryszczyńska also reminded about a famous case conducted by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Łódź. It is about the use of BLIK numbers by criminals. The losses suffered by 1500 victims from all over Poland exceeded PLN 3 million.
