Donald Tusk showed cheap fuel. Experts cool down drivers' emotions

As wnp.pl explains, gas stations in border regions often function as shopping and catering centers and conduct aggressive pricing policies to attract customers from abroad. Lowering fuel prices there is an element of permanent promotional activities, and not a reflection of the situation on the entire market.

“Local Anomaly”
Fuel industry experts agree that the price of PLN 5.18 per liter of gasoline is a local anomaly and not a sign of a nationwide trend.. Jakub Bogucki from the e-petrol.pl website points out that the price of fuel depends on many elements, including: station retail margin. According to his estimates, the model margin for Pb95 gasoline is currently approximately PLN 0.44, which is high compared to historical data. Stations, especially in conditions of strong competition, may partially give up on it, lowering prices at the pump.
Bogucki emphasizes, however, that the general downward trend in fuel prices is not strong enough for such price levels to become the norm. The following are important, among others: station location, its business model (owned by a group or franchise) and short-term promotions.
Up to 70 percent
Wnp.pl also recalled the fuel price structure. The largest part – 60-70 percent. — are the cost of wholesale fuel purchase and its delivery, depending on crude oil prices. The next elements are fiscal burdens: excise duty, VAT, fuel fee, emission fee and mandatory fee for maintaining fuel stocks. Finally, there is the retail margin, which must cover the costs of operating the station, including employee salaries and infrastructure maintenance.
Rafał Zywert from Reflex points out that currently, after taking into account wholesale discounts, the price of Pb95 gasoline is approximately PLN 4.91 gross, and diesel oil is PLN 5.15. After adding operating costs, real retail prices are approximately PLN 5.40–5.50 for gasoline and approximately PLN 5.65 for diesel.
Reasons for moderate optimism
According to Zywertt, for average fuel prices across the country to fall below PLN 5.19, one of two scenarios would have to occur: either crude oil prices would fall by approximately 20%. to the level of USD 50 per barrel at the current dollar exchange rate, or – at current oil prices – the dollar exchange rate would drop to approximately PLN 3.
Experts summarize that although filling up with petrol at PLN 5.18 will not become common in the near future, drivers still have reasons for moderate optimism. Current fuel prices are the lowest in about four years.
