Reaction to Russia's actions

Due to another incident with drones in Latvia in recent weeks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the head of the Russian embassy in Riga, handing him a protest note. The Charge d'Affaires was informed that Russia, waging an aggressive war against Ukraine, poses a risk of security incidents in the entire region, said a statement from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The origin of the drones that fell in the southeast of the country has not yet been confirmed by the authorities. Earlier, at the turn of April and May, since Ukraine has been carrying out intensive attacks on Russian port facilities and terminals, the authorities reported that in those incidents the drones turned out to be Ukrainian drones aimed at targets in Russia, but lost course and ended their flights in Latvia.

During the conference in Reżyca, service representatives informed that until the investigation is completed, every possibility is being considered, including that Ukrainian drones could have been intercepted and used by Russia as a form of provocation.
