Deputy Minister Jurand Dropa to a parliamentary interpellation was published on the pages of the Sejm regarding the possibility of introducing unconditional basic income.

“The Ministry of Finance is not currently planning to introduce a solution, which is unconditional basic income. It should be noted that the introduction of BDP in the amount of PLN 1,300 per month for each adult Polish citizen would involve a monthly cost of about PLN 40 billion – nearly PLN 480 billion annually. This amount would be about 75 percent of the planned revenues of the state budget (in accordance with the Budget Act for 2025), and over 12 percent. Forecast GDP, “said Deputy Minister of Finance.

He added that the introduction of such a benefit “would probably involve the resignation of other, currently binding social benefits.” He mentioned here, among others Family benefits, additional retirement benefits (so -called 13 and 14. Retirement) or social assistance benefits.

“It is worth noting at the same time that the total cost of all monetary social benefits of non -insurance nature (including, including parental benefits 800+) is currently less than PLN 200 billion, i.e. more than twice as less than the forecast cost of introducing BDP,” Drop added. (PAP)
