Biden first disclosed his cancer diagnosis in May 2025, just months after leaving the White House. Hunter expressed that the news was particularly tough for their family. “It is truly sad to watch,” he said. “The only thing I would say about my father, about his health at this moment, is that I wish he would complain more because he is not well,” Hunter added.
Despite his health challenges, Hunter stated that his father remains active in public life, addressing topics that are important to him.
Earlier Optimism About Treatment
In July, President Biden mentioned that his treatment was progressing “very well.” Last month, while announcing the release of his memoir, he spoke about his ongoing battle with cancer, indicating that the treatment was effective. “Since leaving the presidency, many people ask me, Joe, what have you been up to?” Biden said in a video message on July 15. “I have spent a lot of time with family. I am dealing with a cancer diagnosis, and I am receiving treatment, and it is going very well,” he added.
Biden’s memoir, titled “Promise me, America,” which will cover key moments from his presidency, including the Capitol attack and the war in Ukraine, is set to be released on November 17, according to AP.

At 83 years old, Joe Biden was the oldest sitting president in U.S. history, having left office at 81. His age and health have raised ongoing questions during his four years in the White House. Trump, who turned 80 in June, is set to surpass the age record that Biden set by the end of his term in January 2029.
