The tragedy at the Children's Hospital “Saint Maria” in Iași, where six children who have been infected with a bacterium have died “shows us once again how big the need for deep reform is in our health system, who often loses the exact reason why the patient,”, prime minister Ilie Bolojan.
Six children suffering from other associated diseases died at the “Sânta Maria” Hospital in Iași, after being infected with the Bacteria Serratia Marcescens, a nosocomial infection, the Ziarul de Iași revealed on Friday.
“I want to assure the citizens that the administrative investigation will reach all the aspects that must be known in this case and that we will find out in a reasonably short time the causes and possibly culprits. I also want to assure you that I will have no hesitation to sanction where there will be the case and to do what is necessary for us,” condolences.
He also stated that “the reform will continue in the health system with even more energy, to put things on a healthy basis.”
Nicușor Dan, request for government
Previously, President Nicușor Dan sent a message in which he asked the Ministry of Health and the Government to think a concrete plan to combat nosocomial infections in hospitals.
“All these things must be clarified and sanctioned unequivocally. I request total transparency regarding the results of the control body, sanitary inspections and forensic investigations, including the publication of complete reports. Zero tolerance to errors that kill children is a principle from which we cannot abdicate,” Nicușor Dan wrote on Facebook.
The Iași Public Health Directorate has initiated an epidemiological investigation at the Hospital in Iași, and the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that he sends the control body and the state sanitary inspection to Iași.
