The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian drones approached Odessa around midnight. Public broadcaster Suspilne reported that several explosions were heard in Odesa amid the drone threat, writes The Kyiv Independent.
The head of Odesa's military administration, Serhii Lisak, said a fire broke out on the roof of a multi-storey building, adding that a gas pipeline was damaged in the attack. Car fires were also reported in the city.
At least one person was killed in the Russian drone strike on Odesa, Lisak added.
Russian forces also attacked Kiev in an apparent ballistic missile attack.
Kyiv Independent journalists on the scene reported hearing explosions in the capital at around 21:00 local time.
The blast was first reported around 5:30 p.m. amid a ballistic missile threat.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko confirmed the attack, saying Ukraine's air defenses were working to intercept the missiles, and officials urged residents to stay in shelters.
Immediately after the attack, electricity was cut off early in at least one district of Kyiv.
The outcome of the apparent missile attack on Kiev was not immediately clear, and no information was available on which targets were hit in the capital. Ukraine's air force dropped its ballistic missile warnings just before 9:30 p.m.
