Metallic remains that seem to belong to a drone were found on the beach in the Mamaia resort, being washed away by the water, the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruţă, announced on Monday evening, according to News.ro. He specified that the specialists are to determine if data can be recovered that would indicate the route of the aircraft and the circumstances in which it reached the sea.
According to the minister, the fragments were identified in the area of the Victoria hotel in Mamaia, and teams from the Ministry of Defense and the Romanian Intelligence Service are to recover the relevant components for expertise.
“Some people must arrive from the Romanian Intelligence Service, from the specialized department within the Ministry of Defense to recover the pieces that can count in such an expertise”, said Radu Miruţă, Monday evening, on Antena 3.
The minister said he is waiting to see what parts of the drone's electronics can be recovered, “to see what can be recovered from the former route of this drone.”
“Many times, on the electronic areas that remain on the drones, the route of these drones can be broken down, when they were launched, what trajectory they flew, when they were shot down, they fell by themselves because they ran out of fuel, they were hit in the area of international waters”, explained Miruţă, quoted by News.ro.
The representatives of the Coast Guard announced that, on Monday evening, the border police were notified about the possible existence of some remains belonging to an aerial drone on the beach in Mamaia. Metallic remains were identified at the scene, which seem to belong to an unidentified aircraft.
In this case, investigations were started in cooperation with the other authorities with attributions in the field, under the coordination of the prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Constanța Court of Appeal. Police and fire crews also went to the scene, and the area is being checked by specialists, according to the quoted source.
