According to the expert, they not only lead among other startups, but are also the main suppliers of decisions for business, and the main driver of the revenue growth in most of the considered industries has become AI. Such conclusions came to the digital consulting unit T1 based on the results of the analytical cut of DGCOMPASS on the activities of startups from 32 technological sectors of Russia.

IT Holding T1 conducted a large-scale study of the Russian startup landscape and created the DGCOMPASS tool: depending on the assessment of a number of financial and innovative indicators of the industry, young companies were assigned a unique index, according to which they were distributed on four quadrant blocks-“Ubelogov Polyana”, “Truffel Forest”, “Technology Construction Forest” and “Technology Vulcan” and Vulcan of Technology and Vulcan “Desert”. The most popular in the Russian market was IT solutions in the fields of development for business, industry and financial services. All three directions fell into the “Polyana Unicorn” block, which simultaneously indicates high financial indicators and the innovation of projects.

So, in 2024, the total revenue of young technological companies in the field of business development reached 76.1 billion rubles, in industry – 28.7 billion rubles, and in the branch of financial services increased by 68% to 21.8 billion rubles. Other conclusions in three industries:

  • Business development has the highest innovation index and financial indicators among all sectors considered in the study. The most popular technologies here were decisions on the automation and digitalization of business processes, working with data and AI services.
  • The main technological trend in the industrial sector is production automation: development of technological process management systems and digital platforms for quality control, the development of additive technologies.
  • In Fintekh, the most popular IT solutions in business has become payment systems and technologies aimed at improving customer experience-products for processing payments, acquiring and money transfers.

“Our cut helps not only accumulate key data on industries, but also identify real technological trends in various industries. It is they who will play a decisive role in the development of innovation in the coming years. So, in 2024, the average revenue in Fintech increased by 68 %, and the industry demonstrated an increase of up to 14 %. This means that companies from the DGCOMPASS sample are creating IT solutions that are not only in demand in the market, but are also the most promising today, ”said Dmitry Kharitonov, general director of T1 IT Holding.

Young enterprises, which create the most innovative solutions and demonstrate a significant supply of financial growth, fell into the quadrant of the Vulcan of Technologies. Such projects are especially actively created in retail trade, electronic commerce and in the energy industry. So, in retail, against the backdrop of revenue growth by 51% in 2024, the most successful decisions in the field of automation of logistics, the use of analytics and data monitoring, as well as for working with client experience. Despite the fact that these startups demonstrate positive dynamics already at the start, it is noted that the prospects of decisions in this block are combined with the need for significant investments for further development.

The key technology in 2024 in most sectors of the economy – from software for business and finance to logistics and agriculture – became artificial intelligence. Startups using AI in their decisions showed a multiple of revenue growth: in the transport industry for autonomous transport systems, it provided an increase of 67 %, in the field of corporate startups engaged in the development of AI services, added 60 %. And in Fintech, the main driver of the growth of companies that create software for financial and credit organizations became scoring systems and analytics based on AI.
