1 glass per hole – and there was a sea of ovaries: the best fertilizer for cucumbers – how and what to water in June

You don't have to spend money on expensive fertilizers to get strong cucumbers. Sometimes the best food for feeding is already in your refrigerator. We will talk about ordinary nutritional yeast – a simple and working way to care for young bushes in June.

Why is yeast good for cucumbers?

Yeast triggers the work of beneficial bacteria in the soil, which convert organic matter into mineral food that is easy for plants. This gives three results at once:

  1. A powerful root system is formed – the bush better takes moisture and nutrition from the ground.
  2. The immune system is strengthened – cucumbers get sick less and tolerate heat or temperature changes more easily.
  3. The plant receives valuable elements: potassium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium and B vitamins. The fruits grow large, dense and tasty.

Two simple recipes for yeast feeding

Recipe 1

Take 100 g of fresh compressed yeast and 200 g of sugar. Mix, add a small amount of warm water, leave for 1.5–2 hours to ferment. Then add 10 liters of warm water and put it in a dark place for a day. Before watering, dilute the concentrate with water in a ratio of 1:10. Store the finished fertilizer in a cool place until completely used.

Recipe 2

Dissolve 10 g of dry yeast in 1 liter of warm water. Separately, pour 3 liters of boiling water into a glass of sifted wood ash and leave overnight. In the morning, dilute the ash infusion with 7 liters of cold water. Mix both solutions and add half a glass of crushed eggshells. If shells are missing, replace them with 5 calcium gluconate tablets.

When and how to water

Apply the first fertilizing when 3-4 true leaves appear on the young plant. Then repeat every three weeks until the end of fruiting.

Important terms:

  • The soil must be warmed to at least +15 degrees, otherwise there will be no benefit.
  • For a small bush, use 1 glass of the prepared solution, for an adult – up to 1.5 liters.
  • Water only at the roots, preferably in the evening.

Conclusion

Yeast feeding is not magic, but a working agronomic technique. It does not replace full-fledged fertilizer, but it perfectly helps cucumbers gain strength. Use it as an addition to your main care, and the results will not be long in coming.

My experience

I stopped buying expensive root stimulants after I tried yeast. Just two weeks after the first watering, the cucumber bushes became noticeably more powerful, and more ovaries appeared. Now I do this every June – and the harvest is always pleasing.
