The Prime Minister announces a historical order for high speeds

The future of Poland will depend on the development of the railway – Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at the inauguration of the 16th International Trako Railway Fair in Gdańsk. He added that in the coming days a historical order for high speeds would be written.


On Tuesday, the Trako 2025 fair began in the AMBEREXPO hall in Gdańsk. During the opening of the event, Donald Tusk emphasized the key importance of railways for Poland and the ambitions of the development of the national railway network.
– I deeply believe that Poland can be a model throughout Europe, a modern, fast railway network. (…) Our future will depend on this, our communication security – said the prime minister.
He noted that the railway is our energy and transport security. – That is why I did not hesitate after returning to Polish policy before such an internal very determined decision that my personal priority and such task will be our turn – added the head of government.
He emphasized that the coming years would be record -breaking for the Polish railway. He also talked about plans for the construction of high -speed railways, which are to enable travel over 300 km/h. The Prime Minister also pointed out that this project is an investment in industry development, workplace and passenger comfort.
– Our plan for high speeds strengthens our thinking that the railway is to serve every Pole and every Polish woman, regardless of which region they live in what town. Our obsession is that the railway is the most available means of transport for all Polish women and Poles. We do not hesitate to invest in all our energy and all the means at our disposal – he said.
The prime minister announced that “a historical order for high speed rail will be announced in the coming days.” He encouraged the presidents of Newag and Pesa to participate in the undertaking and fight for the order.
– On behalf of everyone involved, I invite you to this great undertaking – fight for this historical order, its scale will be impressive, and we care so much that Polish companies, Polish specialists, Polish contractors were leading partners in these very ambitious undertakings – said Donald Tusk.
The Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak during the speech pointed out that the development of railways, including the construction of the first high -speed lines in Poland and the expansion of regional and local connections, is the government's priority.
He announced that next year the budget of the Ministry of Infrastructure would exceed one hundred billion zlotys, of which a significant part will be allocated to the railway, including the purchase of rolling stock, the construction of new lines and maintaining the existing infrastructure.
– In Poland, we are starting to build the best high -speed railway in Europe, but at the same time we care about the development of regional and local lines. We want to ride the fastest in Europe, but we also want new stations and stops to be built – said Klimczak.
The minister reminded that in December, after 14 years, the passenger railway would return to Ciechocinek, and in June next year – after 33 years – to Łomża. He added that more places after decades will regain long -distance connections.
He announced that until 2035 1000 km of new railway lines is to be built in Poland. – We have money intended for this and a richer budget – he added.
Klimczak also emphasized that in August the value of tenders announced by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe exceeded PLN 20 billion, and PKP Intercity has already placed orders for rolling stock at domestic manufacturers worth over PLN 16.5 billion.
– I have no doubt that this is a revival of the Polish railway and that we are on the right Renaissance tracks in Poland – the minister pointed out.
In the 16th edition of the Trako Fair in Gdańsk, nearly 700 exhibitors from 29 countries take part, including Austria, Belgium, China, Croatia, the Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania, South Korea, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, Great Britain and Italy.
The event is attended by experts, investors, producers, companies providing transport and infrastructure management services and offering technological services and solutions. The Fair's substantive program includes over 70 events – debates, discussion panels and presentations.
The program also includes the inauguration of the celebration of the centenary of Polish state railways, as well as the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Railways in the world, because the date of the event precedes the symbolic day of the birth of the railway-September 27, 1825, the railway line from StoCon to Darlington in England was solemnly opened.
The International Trako Railway Fair will last until Friday, September 26. (PAP)
