President Nicușor Dan announced on Friday that he has a preference regarding the candidates for the elections for the Capital City Hall, which will take place on December 7.
“There will be some elections at the Capital City Hall. Of course I have a preference. Of course there are, in my opinion, two important issues that Bucharest has and correspondingly qualities that the mayor should have”, declared Nicușor Dan, in a press conference, at the end of the European Council meeting.
Nicușor Dan believes that the mayor of the Capital must “be able” to coordinate large infrastructure works and impose himself in the face of real estate influences.
“One is to be able to coordinate large infrastructure works, because Bucharest has an infrastructure deficit, and the second is to be able to oppose real estate influences. You judge”, added Nicușor Dan.
Asked if he supports Cătălin Drula in the elections for the Capital City Hall, Nicușor Dan replied jokingly: “Mr. Ponta used to say, “In what capacity are you asking me?””.
The government adopted, in Thursday's meeting, the organization of elections for the Bucharest City Hall on December 7. Along with these, there will also be elections for the Buzău County Council, but also in several localities left without a mayor.
