The future Polish President Karol Nawrocki reported on Thursday that he wants to make his life more than difficult to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, whom he described as the weakest prime minister of the Iron Curtain, reports by Agerpres.

Nawrocki, a right-wing populist to start his term on August 6, after defeating the candidate supported by Tusk in a second very disputed poll in June, said he did not exclude a meeting with Donald Tusk, according to Polish Pap.

“But it will probably not be a surprise to you that I do not rush to meet Prime Minister Donald Tusk, whom I consider detached the weakest prime minister in 1989,” he added. Nawrocki, however, acknowledged that the Polish public expects the heads of state and government to be in contact for the good of the country.

After the fall of the Iron Curtain, Tadeusz Mazowiecki became in 1989 the first non-communist prime minister of an Eastern European country after World War II. Donald Tusk, 68, who has been president of the European Council in the past, held the position of head of the Government for nine years, being the prime minister with the highest age.

Nawrocki, 42 years old, who discussed his investment with the President of Parliament Szymon Holownia, said he intends to quickly implement his political agenda after the start of the mandate, including tax reductions.

Meanwhile, the president at the end of the mandate Andrzej Duda appointed the ministers elected by Tusk in the last government reshuffle. Tusk revealed the new composition of the cabinet on Wednesday, which aims to resuscitate its center government after what it has cataloged as the “political earthquake” caused by the recent presidential election.

Polish presidents have the power to use their veto to block laws, and in the case of Nawrocki it is anticipated that it will use it even more aggressive than its predecessor, Andrzej Duda.

Nawrocki's presidency could mark a significant change in both internal and external policy for the EU and NATO Member State.
